Ember continued to sob, softly in her sleep. She was having nightmares based on the events she had witnessed. Ember felt herself unable to move, and Shyera's eyes just kept staring. There were feelings of urgency and despair. Even though this had been the first time she had met Shyera, Ember felt an instant connection and adoration for the lady. Ember just didn't understand why she had to be taken away like that.
Ember's fitful sleep was rudely disturbed, as she was thrown, violently, from the bed. She landed on the floor next to some computing equipment. The shuttle was pitching wildly. Ember could see strange streaks of light cutting across the front window. The shuttle was being attacked by marauders and Jaga was busy with the controls, trying to keep the shuttle in one piece. Ember thought it was best to keep silent while Jaga was occupied with saving their lives.
Weird black triangular shaped could be seen interspersed with the lights that were flying across the glass. The shuttle rocked back and forth, taking all sorts of hits. The shuttle was taking heavy damage, Jaga wasn't sure how much longer he could keep the defense shields up. He was aware that Ember was on the floor sitting behind him. She was seated next to a navigation control relay console. The thing was being over run with commands and the enemy hits weren't helping things.
Ember watched, wide eyed while Jaga worked. She had never seem him like this. Jaga's fingers danced across the controls. eyes staring out the window. He looked completely different from the sweet loving Tata Jaga she had always known. Jaga seemed like he was worried about something.
Next to Ember, the NCR was emitting a very low pitched whine. Ember glanced at it concerned. The noise was getting increasingly more intense. Ember braced herself expecting it to hurt her, when something pushed her away from it. The NCR was overloading, and Jaga knocked Ember away from it before it could explode and hurt her. Ember hit her head and landed under the bed. Jaga was killed instantly when the NCR blew up. The attack subsided, leaving the shuttle to drift helplessly in space. Ember was in and out of consciousness, on rare moments of what felt like false lucidity, Ember thought she saw someone else besides Tata Jaga piloting the craft. It was hard to tell though. Ember had a concussion.
