Chapter 1
The ruling council of Undinai were having another fruitless meeting. Raiders attacked mercilously, rendering the outerlying planets of the Alliance. Jaga, the leader of the military, strongly was suggesting to provide military aide to the victims. Shyera, the ruling priestess, was once again pressuring Jareth, the People's leader, to agree and allow the Government to protect the people, as was their duty.
Major decisions, like wars and new laws, had to be agreed upon by unanimous vote on the part of the Council of Three. The different branches of the government, The Religion, the Military, and the Sovereign, had reign over their own sectors. The Religion kept the old traditions and were the historians. The Military protected the people from outsiders that would harm them. The Sovereign protected them from inward threats and troublemakers.
Jaga: We agreed to take care of all members within our nation, how can we turn our backs on people we had sworn to protect?
Shyera: We should help anyway we can! As we sit here arguing, more people lose their lives on the outskirts. WE MUST PROTECT THEM!
Jareth: (sarcastically) Should we wipe their nose for them, too? We can't involve the council everytime there is a minor skirmish.
Shyera: Minor skirmishes are your domain. You are the one that's suposed to prevent the people from harming themselves, MR. Sovereign. ( slamming her hands on the table.)
Shyera used Jareth's formal title among the people.
Jaga: That's enough! We are getting nowhere fast! Let's take a few minutes, for a break and come back when our heads have cleared.
Jareth and Shyera: Fine.
Shyera and Jaga left the table. Shyera was still glaring at Jareth as she and Jaga exited the room. In the privacy of the corridor, they found a few moments to talk.
Jaga: You shouldn't let him get to you so much, my sister.
Shyera: I know, he doesn't care what happens as long as he is well taken care of. He's so selfish and stuborn.
How did the deities let him be sovereign, anyway?!?
Jaga: You know how... ( Jaga embraced Shyera)
The Sovereign was chosen by monarchy. Passed down from Parent to Child. Shyera knew, she was just frustrated by that MAN.
Shyera: (sighing) I will meditate for a time. Thanks, my brother.
Shyera hugged Jaga, then left to find a private room to meditate and calm her nerves. Jaga walked in the opposite direction, glancing at the council chambers and shaking his head. Jareth was standing just inside the doorway spying on everything his fellow council members had said. When the corridor was clear, he slipped out and departed as well continuing in the same direction as Shyera.
